Makeover For Downtown Hillman

The Village of Hillman in coordination with the Michigan Department of Transportation will see a complete makeover of the Hillman Downtown area. A new bridge over the Thunder Bay River in downtown Hillman is currently under construction. In spring a complete rebuild of the road from Veterans Memorial Highway to the old Village limits will begin along with a streetscape that will include decorative lighting and sidewalk.

The Village of Hillman has started the process of coordinating with the utility companies to remove electric, telephone and cable television wires from Main Street. The Village will expend $288,000 and a grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for $240,000 will provide the monies and match ten percent for the Streetscape.
